Panthers GuysRead Book Club

The Wadsworth Library hosts the Panthers GuysRead Book Club, designed for 5th and 6th grade boys and an adult male member of their family. They meet once every 6 weeks for dinner, book discussion, and an activity related to the book. Here's a peek at the fun we had at our first meeting to discuss Tesla's Attic by Neal Shusterman and Eric Elfman. Tesla engineered his inventions. The book club members de-engineered toasters, a TV, a Keurig coffee maker, a tape recorder, and an Enwrite board.

The Panthers GuysRead Book Club ended the year all wet! A Thursday night meeting at the beach to discuss Skink, No Surrender by Carl Hiaasen, ended with a roll in the Atlantic waves. Thanks to all the boys and men who came out each month to talk books and enjoy an activity. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Mr. Rentas, Mr. Nocella, Mr. Evans, and Mr. Crews for their willingness to read the books, enthusiastically lead the discussions, and help with the activities. Their help was indispensible! Mrs. Palot is already planning for next year....

The next meeting is Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. in the library to discuss Hot Hand by Mike Lupica.

March 10 was a "magical" evening for the Panthers GuysRead Book Club. After a dinner of pizza, tomato/cheese sandwiches, and Hostess cupcakes, the club discussed the book Dorko the Magnificent by Andrea Beaty. Following the discussion, "Magic Tom" Sisti, amazed the club with tricks, and a few secrets to start the young magicians off on a road to stardom. Lukas Cottle jump-started the evening with a couple of his own card tricks.

Eleven by Patricia Reilly Giff. The club members enjoyed a pot roast dinner from Bob Evans and tried their hand at a little woodworking. They built claw machines, using kits donated by Lowes.
